How did you use Stix at Elvington?
If an angry or frustrated child was identified, I would send them to the sensory room, where Stix was located, to give them time to unwind. It was a really effective tool as it allowed pupils to regulate their own emotions independently, which is pretty impressive, and allowed me to carry on teaching.
Can you give an example of how Stix was used in your school?
One child in particular used the Stix after returning from a football match angry and frustrated. He used the Stix to calm down and focus, returning to the classroom calm and ready to start his learning.
You could instantly see that he had better control of his emotions after using Stix.
