The Top 5 Features Parents Love About Stix (And What They’d Add Next)

What are the top 5 features that parents love about Stix?

Listening to the Parents Who Rely on Stix

In the busy, sometimes overwhelming world of parenting, finding tools that genuinely help with emotional regulation and daily routines can feel like a search for hidden treasure. We’ve been thrilled to hear from parents who have integrated Stix into their family life, using this screen-free technology daily to help their children find calm.

But what exactly is it about Stix that is making a difference? We asked parents what they love most. Their answers highlight the need for simple, tactile, and effective sensory products that fit seamlessly into a modern family’s routine.

Here are the top 5 features parents told us they rely on:

5 Features Parents Love About Stix

1. The Tactile Feel for Sensory Regulation

For many children, especially those with sensory processing differences, having something constructive to do with their hands is key to calming a busy mind. Stix's unique texture, physical experience and sensory feedback offer just that.

As parent Veronica noted, the tactile feel is crucial: "it provides the perfect outlet for restless energy, making it an effective sensory product that is always accessible. It helps children ground themselves without resorting to screens."

One of the reasons children keep on using Stix far into the future is because of the physical experience that apps can't offer - it's a game changer for a positive mindfulness routine.

2. Bedtime Calmness and Routines

The transition to sleep is often the most challenging time of day. Parents love that Stix provides a non-confrontational, playful way to wind down. By incorporating activities like Melting to Sleep into the bedtime routine, Stix shifts the focus from "go to sleep" to "let's unwind with an activity."

Hannah shared that Stix has become a fundamental part of their nightly ritual. Mira also emphasised its effectiveness, noting its direct link to better, faster sleep for her son - particularly after the 'Melting To Sleep' activity. It helps replace screens with a soothing, predictable activity, and then takes them through easy-to-follow mindfulness instructions that help them take their mind off the world around them.

3. Fun, Engaging Activities Like Bubble Popping & Avatars

Mindfulness exercises for children need to be fun and engaging for them to really buy in. Parents report that Stix’s playful, screen-free mindfulness activities, like Bubble Popping, and the ability to customise avatars are hugely motivating for kids, especially those with ADHD or autism who benefit from sensory play. These interactive mindfulness games help children practice emotional regulation in a way that feels enjoyable, keeping them coming back again and again.

Jazmine and Veronica’s child confirmed that these features make the self-regulation practice feel like a rewarding game, not a chore. It’s proof that calming tools for kids don’t need screens to be effective, screen-free technology can still be highly engaging and therapeutic.

4. Offline Use When Screens Aren't Allowed

In a world that demands constant connectivity, parents appreciate the freedom of having a fully functional, screen-free technology tool that works offline.

As Veronica pointed out, "sometime I don't want my child to have access to a phone before bed, so the Stix offline mode allows them to play an activity just by holding down the buttons, and then the next day they can sync up to the app to get their reward, if they like".

"There are times where I'm working and don't want to give my child full access to my phone whilst unaccompanied, so the offline mode means they can play straight away without my intervention - it's great!"

5. Shared Parent–Child Connection

While Stix is designed to help children self-regulate, parents frequently mention the unexpected benefit of co-regulation and connection. The simple act of doing an activity together strengthens their bond.

Hannah highlights this point, mentioning that Stix often facilitates a moment of shared focus and calm at the end of a busy day, turning a potential struggle into a moment of positive interaction.

Have you tried playing a Stix activity with your child? Hold one remote each and play together - this can be a great way to build a mindful connection with your child.

What Parents Want Next: We Are Listening

We are committed to building sensory experiences that evolve with your family’s needs. We listen to every piece of feedback to ensure Stix continues to be the most helpful tool in your home.

We've started working on new features and updates after multiple conversations with parents that have helped discover ways to help them on their Stix journey.

Daily Check-Ins:

A simple check-in tool to help children reflect on their feelings and track their progress over time.

Currently, children able to rate how they're feeling before/after a Stix activity, rating themselves on a scale from Great to Upset. Our plan is to build on this, providing more options to rate how they're feeling, whilst diving deeper into why they might be feeling this way.

Over time, we hope to build on this feature to help children learn about their feelings and emotions, explore what causes them to change, helping strengthen their emotional resilience.

Content Journeys:

Kids have their Stix favourite activities, and that's great, but it can sometimes mean they don't get to try the wide variety of activities available. This can mean they may not develop all of the skills that could help them with their emotional regulation.

We've started developing a way to encourage kids to play all of the Stix activities in the form of interactive maps, guiding kids through each exercises.

We're really excited about this one, more coming soon!
